Windfall Ranch is a small, family-operated Texas ranch that takes great pride in paying attention to every detail involved in raising the highest-quality Irish Dexter Cattle. I raise Dexters for pets, show and breeding stock as well as selling natural beef direct to the consumer.

I fell in love with the Irish Dexter breed of cattle in 2004. I acquired the ranch, with its breathtaking views, in 2001. Windfall consists of 135 lush, fertile acres that are carefully maintained to provide a healthy, sustainable agricultural system.

From breeding to feeding to processing, every aspect is meticulously and personally scrutinized with the goal of producing purebred Irish Dexter Cattle that maintain the key traits of a fine heritage breed of cattle.

Dexters are ideal for those interested in sustainable, smaller scale agriculture. The Dexter is a dual-purpose breed that is gentle, hardy and easy to handle. As one of the world’s smallest bovines, Dexters are a well-tempered heritage breed that require significantly less pasture and feed than other cattle. It is listed with the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy as a protected breed.

The ranch includes about 60 acres devoted to the production of coastal Bermuda Hay, considered the gold standard for livestock nutrition, and another 50 acres dedicated to pasture. The remaining acreage includes a six-acre lake, several smaller lakes, the house and retriever kennels.

As active members of the America Dexter Cattle Association, the Windfall Ranch family is continually involved in research on pedigrees and breeding standards, and contributes to Dexter programs on a national and regional level. Our goal is to be on the cutting-edge of issues about cattle health and quality, genetics and land maintenance.

The mission of Windfall Ranch is not to become one of the largest farms, but to be one of the best, providing the highest-quality cattle and beef. We do this by offering personalized attention to the humane treatment of our animals, the land and to our buyers. This individualized service extends through to production, where every possible effort is made to ensure the end product is both natural and of the highest quality possible.
